Carbon Neutral Planet is a joint project of Viva Sierra Gorda (USA), Bosque Sustentable A.C. (Mexico), and Grupo Ecológico Sierra Gorda I.A.P. (Mexico), forming part of a greater coalition of grassroots organizations known as the Sierra Gorda Alliance.
Together, we are pioneers in collaborative strategies for conservation and sustainable development. More than 35,000 local people participate annually in our initiatives for forest regeneration and conservation, soil regeneration, community environmental education, solid waste management, organic food production, and ecotourism in order to safeguard the Sierra Gorda and improve prosperity.

Grupo Ecológico Sierra Gorda I.A.P (GESG) founded a civil movement for conservation that led to the creation of Queretaro’s Sierra Gorda Biosphere Reserve, the most bio-diverse federally protected area in Mexico. Programs include environmental education, sustainable regional development, fundraising, and enabling an economy based on conservation.
Bosque Sustentable A.C. is dedicated to regenerating soils and forests, wildlife habitat restoration, and holistic management of resources.
Joya de Hielo A.C. creates and monitors a network of private nature reserves by purchasing land for strict conservation. It currently protects 27,000 acres (11,000 hectares).
Productos y Servicios Turisticos Sierra Gorda S.A. de C.V. works with 75 community owned and operated nature and cultural tourism microenterprises and supports local women-run artisan workshops.
Viva Sierra Gorda is a project of Earth Island Institute, is advocate and fundraiser for the Sierra Gorda Alliance and creator of Carbon Neutral Planet. VSG has tax deductibility in California, United States.
